I appealed to my target audience by having the winner of a popular TV
show on the cover who is a talented young musician. I also ensured to mention
that she was not the same as the majority of other X Factor contestants to make
sure I did not put off people who weren’t fans of the show.
Because my target audience are people who like to stay ahead of
trends, I could revolve my language choices around this characteristic. This
included using terms such as ‘hot news’ and ‘exclusive’. I also used a
silhouette as they would be interested in a secretive story that not many other
people knew about.
On the contents page I included names of artists who would appeal to
my target audience as these are the types of artists they would listen to and
therefore be interested in reading about.
This age range are usually the people who go to festivals so having
this as a prize with a photograph of a local festival will encourage these
people to buy it.
I haven’t put too much text on my double page spread so it does not
intimidate younger people but maintained a tone that was not too simple so it is
not patronising or frustrating to read.
